Evening gentleman,

I just picked up a current 4X54 Daylight/Actinic setup as well as a single 400W MH. It's an older MH with Transformer/Cap setup. Fires up and works great. I'm waiting on a 14K bulb for it. My question is, with mostly SPS's and live rock would this be a workable setup for a 75 gallon? How about with the added depth of the 90?

Thanks for any help!

Bobby

I run 400's over my 75 gal. and it works great but you will need 2 on a 4' tank a single bulb won't cover that much area. and also the center brace will stop you from putting the bulb over that.

Shifty,

How are the heat issues with 2 400's? I have a second setup I could have but figured 2 400's would be too much light for even a 90. I have about 12" for the canopy as far as height goes. The tank is in the basement that stays about 65 degrees year round but do not want to have to run a chiller.

Thanks,

Bobby

I currently run two 400 watt MH over my 140 gallon (30" depth). Mine is also in the basement, and has never reached higher than 82F. I don't think you'll need a chiller...maybe a fan or two.

heat is no problem temp stays at 78-80 max. actually my heaters will still kick on when the lights are on. we keep the house at 72 degrees. I have the bulbs 12" above the top of the tank and I also run a 8" fan in the canopy when the lights are on just to help but not sure if it is needed.
