Hello to all. I heard tonight at lfs that once mollies have acclimated to saltwatrer that they cannot revert back to fresh. They will not make it- they will die. Never heard this before. Is this true or anyone know from experience? Thanks in advance

I have doen it before a couple times. the biggest thing is that you want to do it very slowly. I think I took 2 weeks to bring them back.

they migrate from fresh to full salt and back and forth in the wild so i cant see where they would not be able to be reconverted in the hobby...

doing it slowly would be the key, but from my experience they have brighter coloration and breed better in marine conditions and have overall better health and survival rates of both adults and fry in marine conditions

Absolute poppycock- they can go back and forth fairly easily. The show mollie breeders keep them brackish- although many use "aquarium salt" not marine mix.

I was thinking about starting a breeding tank for mollies this summer for a source of live food.
