I am in the process of building a new hood for my 180 and whenever it is completed I am including 2 6ft VHO's. I have used Icecap ballasts before but honestly am VERY dissatisified with them. The first one was chugging along with no changes and started popping fuses. I ordered another one and wired it up. I was using it for a while then I noticed the VHO's weren't working. I looked at the ballast and there was a burnt spot on the white plug that plugs into the ballast. I unplugged it and unplugged the ballast and haven't messed with it since. I can re-wire what I have now in the new hood and see if it still works but I hate to wire it all up then it not work and have to re-do it all. Anyone have another suggestion for a ballast to use for these bulbs. PS this isn't my only lighting, not looking for lighting suggestions, only want a suggestion for a VHO fluorescent ballast.
