I'm picking up a 275 gallon water tank for transporting water in my truck, but I'm not sure it's 100% safe. It has been used once- to hold fluoride. The container is made of high-density polyethylene plastic. Is the fluoride going to leach out into my water even after thorough rinsing? I understand corals utilize trace amounts for skeletal growth, but could there be any negative effects? I suppose it might depend on what form fluoride is in? I'll contact the guy and see if it's sodium fluoride, elemental (could it even be stored as a liquid by itself?), or what. Also, is the high-density polyethylene safe (food grade?)?

Thanks

This would probably be better suited for asking in the reef chemistry forum.

Alright, I'll post it there. Thanks for redirecting me!

whew, I hope your truck has a 2300 lb payload rating! (if you're not towing it, that is)

My truck only has a 2000lbs payload capacity (5000lbs towing), so I can only carry about 225 gallons of freshwater (about 179 gallons of saltwater @ 1.026sg)- with water tank weight calculated in (about 120lbs).
