Hey, today i bought a Reef octopus 600 module primarily because i dont have a sump yet. I installed it according to the manual that was given. When i ran it, it generated an awfull lot of microbubbles.

now i have an idea of why this happened- does anyone know the difference between a sponge and a bubble stopper. One is large and cubic in shape while the other is smaller- but both have the same roughness etc.
has anyone ever had this skimmer and if so, how do i properly install it- the manual is vague. it doesnt show how to install the "bubble stoppper"

The bubble stopper (blue Sponge) gets placed on the output pipe that is within the tank. It is only intended to be used for the period of break in to prevent unsightly micro bubbles from entering the aquarium.

You're gonna have microbubble for about 2 weeks until the skimmer is broken in. It's very normal for that to happen since it's new even when you clean the whole skimmer with vinegar it'll do it again. it's just a break in process.

When you get a new skimmer it always has microbubbles. That's very normal and it'll take a few weeks to break in.
