I have a 34 gal Solana and I have a bad algea problem. Tank have been running for 14 months now. I think it is phosphates coming from my rock. (I bought used rock from anothers reefers tank. )I started dosing VSV about 6 weeks ago and using Prodibio BioDigest . Yesterday when doing my weekly water change I noticed this gel like stuff in my overflow filter. Is it from the dosing? Anyone have any ideas? The algea is starting to turn white and finaly started to die off a little too. What is this stuff and is it a good sign or bad one?

Sounds like a bacterial growth which can occur when dosing carbon sources like VSV. I would remove the slime and see if it returns (removing this bacterial growth will export the nutrients the bacteria have taken up). If the slime gets out of control you will need to cut back on the amount of VSV you are dosing. ;)
