Hello, I am a newbie here obviously!
Well we noticed that our Six-Lined Wrasse had a small hole on its right side yesterday. Looked like he cut a chunk out of his side. Today that injury looks a little worse. We just upgraded our tank from 20 to 28 gallons (with a mirror now). I wonder since he is constantly facing off with himself in the mirror if he is getting injured somehow rubbing against rocks or if it is a fungus/bacteria. It is a white hole on his right side about the size of a small pea. I attached some photos of it. Anyone know what can be causing it if it is not a self-inflicted wound from rubbing against rock?

Looks like he might have been stung by something. Is there anything in the tank that might have tried to grab ahold of him?

Lets see. I got a Red Brittle Star (not aggressive at all), 6 corals (candy cane, kenya tree, toadstool, duncan, button, and a Parazoanthus), 2 cleaner shrimp, yellow tang, 2 percula clowns, blue damsel, and a goby. I dont see any of these guys attacking each other. This seems to be something that has happened since we switched our tank over a few days ago. Maybe my wife accidently harmed him as she put in another 4 pieces of live rock yesterday... What would you recommend we do to help him heal??

Oh and the sore is deep. It goes into his body a bit.

It looks a bit better today. The white color is gone but the hole remains.

In your second picture, your tangs eye dosn't look so good either Are you sure your water quality is up to par?

Yeah the tang has HLLE. He is getting better. Water is tested perfect.

Doesn't look like anything in the tank would attack and make such a mark...perhaps a rock pinned him a bit when you put it in the new tank?

I asked about the tang, because there are some bacterial and fungal pathogens that may cause tissue necrosis. If bad enough, could resemble an injury.

The wrasse looks better everyday. Noticed he likes his mirror image on the back of the tank. Seems the hole is decreasing in size. He is as happy as ever! So maybe he did get pinned somehow.
