I have a bunch of vermetid snails growing on my live rock, are these a good or bad critter for a tank?

They jury is still out. They send out their long filaments to collect food and it can irritate nearby corals. When the population starts to explode, as they sometimes do, they can be pretty unsightly.

I've been glad to have mine back. I used to have a lot, and then lost them in the move, and now they're back. I value diverse critters in the tank.

I am sure I've got several hundred. They populate the back areas of my tank, areas of lower light and flow. Zoas and mushrooms grow over them and with them. I found one on a branch of a candycane, and I superglued it and the candy cane grew over it. It pains me to see them, but otherwise they don't seem to be causing a problem for me.
