View Full Version : How many pumps

I am setting up an Elos System 120.
It has the same footprint as a 120 (48 x 24) but is only 20" high which makes it a 90 gallon.

I had/have both the Tunze and Vortech and really like them both.
If I would go with the Vortech how many pumps (MP40?) would you recommend for a mixed reef?
The tank will be placed as a room divider with one short side close to the wall and therefore if I need more as just 1 MP40 could I place both next to each other on one side?

Thanks
Michael

One MP40 would be ok for a mixed reef, but for ideal flow you would want two pumps, one on each side.

Since the tank would be placed as a room divider, you can install both on one side. In this case I would run long pulse mode to create a nice gyre flow that changes directions every thirty minutes or so.

Thanks for your input.
I already have one MP40 and will try it out and if needed follow your recommendation...
