i have all these floating little white things in my tank. they're also on my glass. i'm pretty sure they are HYDROIDS! in the medusa stage?

does anybody know how to get rid of them? there are so many.

i don't have a good enough camera to take pics of them but they look like little white dots with maybe 12 tiny arms, kinda like if a super tiny swimming zooanthid or a kids drawing of a snowflake.

what to do what to do? google helps me identify them but nobody has anything to say about what to do when you have them. i don't see the colonial ones in the rockwork, just the floating swimming ones that end up on the glass.

i've read that you can put kalk paste on them or some putty but the ones i have are swimming.

more background: i've had them for a couple months now.

i've tried running an aquaclear with some filter pads to see if it would put a dent in their populations, didn't work.

i've tried waiting it out, seems like there are more and more every day.

not sure what else to try. my tank has been up and running for almost 4 yrs now.

They will dissapear with time. normally show up when your tank begins to season but then just magically go away.
