I am getting a new 220 and building a new stand and new canopy.

Trying to figure out whether or not I should use a retrokit on the underside of the new hood or if I should by a t5 set that sits on the tank.

Unsure which to choose? Any one better than the other? Please give your opinion on which is and which you use and why?

Last thing to decide and can order and get ready for the BIG build.

Either way will work. The only advantage I see is that with the fixture you can adjust the height of it up and down which you most likely can't with retros and not have to lift an even heavier canopy with retros drilled to the top.

I was wondering what your thoughts were on it. This would give me 6 t5 lights and even more 2 strips of led lights, one white and one blue. This will be mounted in a hood with the inside painted white with a clear coat over the paint for more relection.

The tank is 6' and can't find a setup that would be 60" so I wonder if the 48" would light up the whole tank or if I would not have enough light.

Opinions please

I'm not sure that fixture is the greatest. I haven't heard of many people with IceCap fixtures and that alone can tell you something. IceCap has gone out of business, which is why it's so cheap. So replacement parts will be hard to find in the future.
