tell us a little more about your system. What kind of filtration? What are your water parameters?

sump setup? hang on back filters? etc.

Are you talking about a layer of surface film? If so, you can always move the powerhead up and point it towards the surface, this should help to break it up so the filter/sump can get it.

Point it up to give more surface movement and break up the gunk. Are you running a reef or fish only? If a reef, a wet dry is a more difficult way to run it.

just fish and live rock, just moved it down some and pointed it up,but it is on the opposite side of the black over flow thing on the back wall of the tank

woah! That sounds like an issue. Can you get a picture? You sure the powerhead isn't putting something in the water?

you need to post the pic in here. Upload it to something like photobucket and then cut and paste the photo info into here.

OK, I saw it. That doesn't look normal. Its really only in the top of the tank? Is there anything that might be adding something to the tank or any electrical device that might be exposing metal?
