Does this look like I'm skimming too wet? I'm trying to get an appreciable amount of skimmate in the collection cup but instead I get this dense foam. I'm trying to wet skim because I'm using zeovit and trying to export PO4 but not sure if I have the wedge pipe closed too much.

Doesn't look too wet to me. In fact, I run mine wetter.

Is your wedge pipe closed more then mine? I'm scared to close it any further because it doesn't look like too much water would be able to make it out the skimmer lol.

Sorry for the late response. My wedge pipe is a bit more open than yours. What water level is yours in?

I have the v2.0

Looks good JG1. How many days of production is this? When using Zeo or other forms of carbon dosing your skimmer will produce foam like you have now.

Here's a picture of my 840 when it was on a 170gal Zeo system 2 days:

That was after about 4 days of production, but this is a young tank with a small bioload.

Bob, your wedge pipe looks like you were running the ATB wide open??

It's hard to see at that angle but it was slightly closed. The dots were about 3/16" open. It was a V1.5 with the large pinwheel and the system had a heavy bioload.

Maybe I need to lower the skimmer. If I remove the eggcrate I can drop it down about 1.25".

How deep is it now?

JG1

8" deep

I think 8" is the recommended depth for the V2.0. Your wedge pipe is closed about 1/2 way so you could try and run a little deeper but it may overflow.

yeah I think it's supposed to be between 8-9.5" deep.

I'm not sure if I should lower the skimmer or continue closing the wedge pipe.

I think I read the lower the skimmer is the less air it will draw....I dunno.

Try it at 9" or so and see if it works for you. I think it's working good now since you have a light load. Another thing you do is clean the cup and neck every couple days to keep it working at its peak.

I lowered it to a little more then 9" deep last night. Opened the wedge pipe a little and have been slowly closing it today.

We'll see....

The skimmer is skimming wetter now that I dropped it to 9.5" deep.

Looking good. The skimmate looks nice and dark.
