I had a tank crash because a heater.

So I'm setting up a new tank using some of my old live rock. This rock was store in my garage for 2 weeks cold with water and air pumps.

Ammonia level are around .5 and holding for the last couple of days.
I dose prime to keep it from killing anything else that might be still alive on the rocks. All the coral/fish are in another tank.

I have now everything running on this new system and wanted to start running my ozone. What effect with this have on a system that is cycling?

I'm not sure what affect, if any, ozone might have on an ammonia binder. I'd probably wait until the ammonia was zero for a while.

Red sea claims that:
. "In a marine aquarium (or in a freshwater tank with pH higher
than 7.5), ammonia is efficiently oxidized to less harmful nitrite and further to
nitrate...."

Thoughts?

That might be true, but the ammonia might be unbound from the Prime first.

You're welcome! If you give the ozone a try, let us know how it goes! It might be a useful approach.

Well I been doing some testing. Wish I had some better tests but I just have API. I something that has a better steps. this one just goes 0, .25, .5,....

I need something that does .1, .2, .3 or even closer.

I been running ozone at 50mg for about 24 hours. The test kits show little change. testing straight out of the reactor also doesnt show any different from the tank. ORP went from 250-305.

Well I found out i had my ozone reactor hook up incorrectly. Corrected it this morning.

10am .25/.5ppm
8 pm 0 ppm

Think it works out really well.
