ID hermit crab (7)

Hi!
Does anyone know this hermit crab?
I can not find him.

Do you know the right (scientific) names? Can not find identical images on Google. But this hermit came defently from Bali.

There are a bunch of things I've seen referred to as a "Florida hermit," but in this case I'm guessing it was meant to refer to Clibanarius vittatus. However, even ignoring the range, it is not a match. C. vittatus doesn't show asymmetry in the claws, striping on the feelers, or bright highlights around the joints as this hermit does.

However, I thought i might have seen similar-looking pictures before and finally found what I was remembering: http://users.skynet.be/fa311324/article/hermit.htm. The animals labeled "Pagurus nigrivittatus" near the bottom of the page look similar (and the range is right too I think?), at least from the one photo posted here. Of course, I'm also skeptical of the species labels on that page, since the C. vittatus photo at the bottom is misidentified.

Hmm i don´t think it is a Pagurus nigrivittatus.
My guess was a Pagurixus sp. He almost looks like a Pagurixus handrecki, but Pagurixus handrecki lives in South Australia and not round about Bali.
It´s very difficult to do an id by a foto.

I'm having problems with your hermit crabs too, despite having spent many hours reviewing my literature, photo library, and the web. Why don't you send your images to Joseph Poupin? He works on hermits & has the most extensive photo collection.
