MY tank is about a year old and have been dosing with vinegar for about 6 weeks. The only negative observation I've noticed is the blue mushroom is about half it's size. Could this be from the vinegar & does this also impact rics? Jim

I really dont think 40 ml is shrinking your shrooms but I have never really had a lot of luck with shrooms. My lighting I think is the culprit with 400w 20k. Also a lot of people seem to say shrooms like water a little dirtier than say sps. A good friend of mine tried dosing much more vinegar than what is recomended and it worked but his shrooms seemed to have suffered but all bad algea gone. That why I asked.

Thanks for asking. The other possiblily (in my case), could be I was dosing with MB7 (Brightwell's Microbacter). Jim

my rics faded and got a lot smaller with vodka and vin dosing

I'm on day 4 of dosing 5 ml vinegar (mixed with Kalk) to my 40 gal DT and 30 gal sump/fug. So far, I have not noticed any impact on my Rics.

Interesting note. I have noticed with the vinegar that my Tangerine R. Florida is not growing at all. However, my Blue and Orage is getting huge and is about ready to split. I know there's nothing difinitive here, just posting some observations to keep the discussion going.

I doubt that amount of vinegar would have an impact on anything (except for increasing kalk saturation).

I also added a filter sock what starting the vinegar dosing. I read (on another thread) that filter socks are not good for soft corals (removes the nutrients) but very good for hard corals (require very clean water). I removed the filter sock a few days agoand it will take a month or better to observe if their is any improvement to the mushrooms. Jim
