This is a new tank that has been up since November. I started noticing these reddish, translucent bubbles gradually growing in a few places on the rock. Some are very round, some look more like tubes as in the attached picture.
Any idea what these are? Do I need to take corrective action and if so what?
Thanks!
Dave

Red Bubble Algae
Emerald Crab should take them down. If there's only a few bubbles you can, if possible, remove the rock and pull them off. If not possible to remove the rock, you can try, without busting them open, to pull them off the rock, or use the end of a knife to dig/break the underlying area that they are attached to.

I don't believe that is the red bubble. I think that is the red macro that branches. Sorry but don't remember the name. What you have is just it beginning to grow. Grab a piece out of your tank. If it feels kind of rubbery and when you squeeze it it pops and kind of looks like Aloe it will be the macro. The red bubble is just a spore filled sac. It would pop more like a hollow grape. I think another way to describe it would be the seaweed salad in sushi restaurants. Similar texture. I think either Angel Fish or SushiGirl can ID. I believe one of them really likes it. HTH.
