Substrate Change...

I changed my substrate out today, and will be running a DSB, Il add some live sand from my LFS but my question is this... Do i physically have to re-cycle my tank with a shrimp, or will it just do it on its own? :confused:

Change a little bit of sand each day so their will be less bacteria loss.

So your sb is now 4 + inches? If your tank is cycled adding some sand should not effect that. I assume you've read all the literature on running a dsb so that you don't run into problems? There's a LOT of misinformation out there on dsbs, I recommend following directions from a trusted source (like Calfo, Shimek, etc).

Ya im running a sugar fine 4 inch DSB, thanks for the info i wanna start adding things to my tank but i dont want it to die so thanks a bunch!
