Alright, I just got this in and am having a hard time understanding the directions. I have it on the screen 991d which should be the absolute max it can dose in a day, but I don't know how to start it. Basically I want it dosing 24/7 and all I want to be able to change is the 1-99ml/hr on the fly. Any way you can help me out?

How much are you trying to dose per day?
SkullV

I'm unsure..I know I want the max number of cycles per day and I want to be able to switch up how much is dosed per cycle on the fly. I want to keep up with evap for Kalk drip. I know the max cycle will be more then enough but I want to be able to slow it down if I need to.

Well you can set it to as low as 1 cycle every hour in a day to what ever you want to dose between 1ml to 99ml per cycle. So if you wanted to replenish 1/2gal (1892ml) a day you would set it on 79ml every hour. So your first setting which is your dosing amount you would set to read 79ml and your second reading which is the cycle rate would be set at 1H which is its lowest setting of 1 cycle every hour. Hope this helps. (Absolute max is 99ml 1H)

So here is what I did:
Calibrated the unit -- Ended up with 60/10
Did Short Test -- Got 8ml Every 24 Seconds
Set the ml number -- Set at 99
Set the cycle time -- Set to 1H
The screen now reads -- 99 1H
Will it just dose 99ml exactly 1 hour after I hit the clock button to go to 1H and then 99ml hourly after that or should it be doing something immediately/constantly.
My next questions are:
How much total can this thing push out daily if I turn the calibration number up as high as it will go and then run the unit at 99 1H?
Has this been tested and will the unit perform correctly?
Thanks!

Looks like I got it working correctly based on what I posted above. I would still love any info you could give me about using a higher calibration number to push more fluid (obviously the unit can push at least 10ml in 10 seconds if it really needed to based on the calibration function).

It can dose up to 2,376ml (80oz) per day if you dose 99ml per hour. These have been tested and will soon be in use on my tank to dose two part.

I know it will dose the 2,376 out of the box, but my question is if you turn the calibration duration number (57-58-59-etc.) all the way up, how much extra will it dose?
I don't anticipate it actually being an issue since I have it set to 801H right now and it seems to be keeping up with evap properly, but its always good to know.
The pump works great though!

I will have to get back to you on the duration setting. I just brought mine home last night but haven't had any time to really play with them.
I also took a photo next to a soda can for reference in size.

How easy is the setup on these pumps? I am just starting to dose 2 part and I will be looking for dosing pumps. I don't have to dose much because I only have softies and lps. I am currently only dosing about 20ml per day. Is there any back up for power loss?

I find the units very easy to use. The units will refer back to the preset operation once the power comes back on.

another question, can you set these up to only dose at night? its my understanding that dosing alk at night is best because of the raise in ph

You can set it to dose one amount during the evening hours but as far as I can tell you can't only dose small amounts at night. You would set it so that it would dose every 12 hours/or 1 Day or so. So I guess it would really depend on your dosing amount and the size of the system. If you dose small amounts through the day you wouldn't really see any effect in the PH.

I just purchased this pump and use it to dose kalk. It came with a generous length of tubing. When the time comes I need to replace the tubing, do I use the excess tubing that came with the pump or do I need to purchase different type of tubing? I do 99ml 1h. I am assuming I would need to replace the tubing every year as part of maintenance.

what is the preset operation?
Jeremy@CoralVue

There is no preset as you have to set the dosing amount and time in to operate the unit. Once you set the desired dosing amount and schedule the doser will maintain it till manually changed.

If I lose power. When the power comes back on what will it be set at?

It will retain the setting that you had it last set at.

I was thinking from the quote above that there was no battery back up and that it would refer back to the preset settings?

It retains the setting but the time that it will dispense at will change. I have been using it to dose Kalk on my drilled nanocube for a little while now and these are my observations:
Very easy to change settings, this is important because if you are using it for ATO with Kalk your evap can change daily.
Very accurate!
Retains setting after power off.
Probably won't use it for Kalk ATO any longer because of the variance in evap.
I am wondering however if there is a way to stagger the pumps if you want to use them for dosing 2 part. What I mean is to have it dose the Cal part and 10 min later dose the Alk part?
Jeremy@CoralVue

Each pump you will dial in separately and retains their individual settings. The only thing borrowed from the parent pump is the power source. I use them to dose 2 part plus mag and have also found them to be dead on accurate. I have used a few other peristaltic pumps and these are by far the easiest to setup.

How do I set them to stagger by 10 minutes though? It looks like the only thing I can set is the Hour/Day and ml settings.

You can only set the dosing time by hour or day and regulate the dosage per time. What are you trying to dose at 10min intervals?

I am trying to get one dosing pump (ALK) to dose exactly 10 minutes after the first dosing pump (CAL).

The only way I can see how to accomplish this is to set one unit up 10min after the other. The only problem is that if the power goes out I believe that the reset at the same time. The only way I can figure that this can be avoided is if you have separate power supplies and plug on of them into a reef controller and have a 10min delay after the power resumes.

Hi, I purchased two of those dosing pumps, but both pumps are not sucking the liquid. I press M buttom as said in manual, pumps seems to run normally but they don't pull any liquid in.
I already tried to set inlet from both sides any doesn't work either...
any thoughts?
Jeremy@CoralVue

As long as you are sucking up the liquid from the right side port; It sounds like the line is pinched. Sometimes when these pumps sit in a warm environment the silicone will soften and stick. Try to prime hot water with a short intake hose. Usually it will begin to open up within less than a minute. If it still does not produce a prime and product through the output then hold the m button and blow into the intake and that should expand it open for dosing.

The two I have on my tank have been running for more than a year now with no issues.I have had one dosing 14ml of alk every 4 hours and 20ml of Calcium every 8 hours consistently and it is fairly easy to adjust the dosage as need by the tank.

Not sure if this question has been asked, but after the timer is set and ml. is set, is there a way of knowing the cycle/cycles have been initiated? I did not notice an immediate start of the pump, whether resetting time/ml interval, or simply unplugging then plugging back in. Most pumps run their first cycle, then begin at the allotted time there after, so it seems these pumps do not do that, or am I missing something here... Any advice would be great, seem like solid little pumps though:)

When programming these pumps, what does HD mean on the time side? I would like to dose my vodka twice a day, anyone know how to do that on these pumps?
Jeremy@CoralVue
04/16/2013, 06:27 PM
HD stands for Half Day (12hrs). This is the setting you want to use to dose twice a day.

I just purchased one of these pumps and I can't get it to work.
I tried calibrating but the pump wont suck up any liquid, it just spins.
I tried holding the manual button for minutes at a time and the pump does not suck up water.
IS THIS TO BE CONSIDERED A DEFECTIVE PUMP?
AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?

The flexible hose that rides between the rollers is pinched closed commonly from being stored in a warm encionment. simply take a small container of warm water and place a short length of feed line to it. Hold the manual button till the warm liquid passes through.

Jeremy,
I'm having back siphon issues with mine. I'm getting sick of having to prime these all the time and thought that because it has 3 rollers that I wouldn't have to. The pumps are only about 6 inches above the bottles and deliver the 3 part about another 6 inches away into my sump. Do you have any advice for me?

Are the lines in the dosing supliments fully submerged all the way to the bottom of your container?

Blow into the intake line to see if there is any leaks at any of the connections or along the hose. If the intake line is submerged and stays submerged the connections are fully sealed the pump will keep a prime unless there is a hole or leak somewhere.

Jeremy, you were right, the line was pinched but the hot water nor blowing worked. The website i purchased it from did not reply so I had to take the pump apart.
I soaked the tubing in warm water until it inflated to its normal state.
The pump works now, I think. I have it set for 01 every hour which should give me 24mls per day. I tested for hours after calibrating, lets hope it still works accurately.
