any advantages of one over the other? i know cpvc is safe for water supply lines and is rated at around 100psi.

pvc is fine to use. probably cheaper too.

As long as your tank does not exceed 140 degrees you will be fine

PVC is cheaper, cpvc has smaller walls so takes up less room for the same inside diameter.

PVC is fine, though.
