Algae ID?

Folks,

Anyone able to tell me what type of algae I've got going on here?

It doesn't look like any of the images I've seen on the web of dino or cyano. I've pulled some out and it doesn't seem to replace quickly where removed, nor is it bigger or smaller with lights on/off. It also doesn't feel slimy, but has more of a sponge type texture to it.

That would have been my guess as well, a sponge or a turnicate (though sponges usually prefer shadowy areas).

You could post your pic in the "Other Invertebrates" forum, perhaps somebody knows your creature.
