I'm just getting into the saltwater hobby after having african cichlids for the previous 3 years. I'm looking for ideas on what fish and corals to get besides the ones I have now. Where is the best place to buy corals from? Also, my lfs sold me a piece of coral, but I don't remember the name of it. Can anyone be of any help in identifying it? Thanks for you help!

150g glass tank--48x24x30
30g custom sump
Marineland Pro 300 skimmer
1050gph pump
2 2400gph powerheads
2 48" deep blue professional solarxtreme 4x54watt t5ho systems
250lbs of live rock
large clean up crew
pair of clowns
1 yellow tang
1 blue/green chromis

Tank has been up and running for 2 months and water parameters are excellent. I had to return 1 light fixture due to timer issues and am waiting on the replacement to arrive. The pics below where taken with only one fixture.

some fish are: royal gramma, bangaiis (make sure to get these at the same time), some different wrasse, different firefish, gobys,

some corals: not to sure but mushrooms, polyps, any soft corals really.

the type of coral you have is a green star polyp.

heres a good website to look for different fish and corals and debate which ones you want:

and you could go buy that at your lfs, as for a place to get the live stock from not sure where you live and getting them online can be a pain sometimes

just dont over do it with your tank right now. i did its fine now but it was very stressful. take your time stocking your tank. make sure to freshwater dip your fish before you put them into your tank or have the lfs do it for you because when you get parasites in your system its a real pain trying to fight off ick. if you want to be more cautious you could do a quarantine tank but freshwater dip is quicker and easier and kills most parasites just make sure the water has the same ph as your tank, or just have the lfs do it. doing this can save you from stressful parasites later on.

On the right side of your tank is that rock against the glass?? If it is I would recommend moving it, otherwise you'll play hell cleaning around it.
I would say IMO your off to a good start just take your time adding livestock to your tank.

You also need to learn patience. If you handle your tank the way you handled waiting for a reply to this post you will kill your tank.

i.e. "Oh that first dose didn't seem two work. I guess I'll re-dose (re-post) every 30 minutes until something happens!"

ok he just wanted some answers, he was the way i was very excited about the new tank so of course hes gonna rush opinions. just try not to bring the rushing to your tank lol. i screwed up my tank by getting ick and now i am trying to see about leaving my fish tank fishless so the ick will die off, but unfortunatley have no place to put my fish cause no money for a big enough qt tank.

Not trying to be a smartass, but the site was pitifully slow when I was trying to post the thread and kept timing out. I had no intention of posting multiple duplicate threads. I pm'd a mod and asked them to remove the duplicates, but they never did. I like to tell people that there is a reason why the word "a-s-s" is in assumption...

Another bit of advice that never occurred to me before an experienced reefer pointed it out. If you leave your algae scrubber in the tank all the time it can get a build-up of calcium nodules on it which will scratch your glass. I think it might only happen if you dose 2-part or kalk etc. which I don't do yet but just in case I take my scrubber out and rinse it every time. Something to consider anyway. :)
