View Full Version : Garlic - just an appetite stimulant or more??

Just wondering if anyone has any info on whether or not garlic actually has any physical effects on fish (that would prevent illness) or if it merely increases the appetite and/or makes food more enticing (thereby increasing immunity and disease resistance through good nutrition).

Thanks.

There's some evidence that it can remove internal parasites, but that's about it as direct effects. Some fish might like the taste, which could be useful.

Here is a link, written by someone considered an expert by his peers: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-10/sp/index.php

Enjoy! HTH.

Garlic directly boosts immunity. I believe the correlation is direct, instead of indirect in the way of good nutrition.

Do you have any evidence for that statement? I haven't seen any yet.
