I just finished soldering up my first cree led fixture.
I noticed that some of solder joints are really close to the side of the star , does it matter If the solder touches the side of the star? Or if the wire is touching the side?

It can touch the side just can't touch the heatsink or anything else that electricity can travel through.

Ok everything looks ok .
One more thing to check on when I unplug the lights dimmer down to 0 the led's kind of bright twice then they stay off ? Is this bad?
I have the meanwell dimmable drivers

I am having trouble understanding what you mean. Can you rephrase it please?

Yes sorry ,
I have a string of 12 blue LEDs wired in series to a meanwell ELN-60-48D
With a DIY dimmer/ potentiometer
The dimming works properly, I have the driver hooked to a timer and when the timer shuts the power off the LEDs go off but a few seconds later they flash twice.
It's almost like it's releasing the remainder of the energy in the driver?

I have heard of this several times. I think what you need to do is shut the power to the dimming circuit first.

Is this harmful for the LEDs ?

As far as I know no, but I have no personal experience. It all depends on what surge of current it puts through the LEDs.

I will put a meter on it to see if I can get an accurate reading of current
