I have a DI cartridge I bought about a year ago. Guess I didn't need it yet. Now I do tho and something is odd. The small blue and brown pellet powder inside has reduced to about half its original volume. It hasn't solidified or liquified or anything that I can tell except volume. First, what the heck? Second, can I still use this thing?

Thanks in advance. :)

Was the media exposed to the air? Bulk reef supply says their vacuumed sealed ones only last 2 years that way, so once opened it most likely depletes rather quickly.

huh... well now that's interesting to note, because I'm pretty sure it was sold to me out of the sleeve. To be fair tho, they probably thought I needed it right then.

Okay, need a new one! Thanks. :)

I've had a couple of re-fillable DI cartridges do this (become less than full during use) when I rerfilled them myself and neglected to pack the media in the cartridge tight enough. When I took care to pack the DI media in the refillable cartidge tightly, it was not an issue. GL!
