Sorry to hear that Doc, and Mike. It's tough to believe how attached we can get to these little critters. Sometimes, when you lose one, it's like a kick in the chest :(

I had a breeding pair of chalkies too...some might remember I posted up pics of the breeding dance...the female did a carpet surf a few months ago and the male was never the same always hiding in a cave and finally just stopped eating...

Hurricane Irene made me nice everything into rubbermaid totes. My helfrich firefish died in the process and I think the levels spike helped to kill 6 chalice frags and another good sized piece. 2 stylos are lost and a couple acans are in rough shape. Power came back to oceanside late this afternoon. so hopefully I don't find anymore losses when I get back from work tomorrow!

Damn that looked like a nice fish....

Fish losses are the worst. Not happy when they happen.
Just lost a bunch of fish over the two months. I don't feel like even buying fish anymore. Stick to corals instead

Lost a yellow clown goby, a hippo tang, a percula clownfish and two mandarins. I don't know what I'm doing wrong honestly. They were all eating well and very very active and just one by one they disappear :headwallblue:

Have lost 3 fish in ~4 weeks.

RIP
2 Chromis and Maroon Clown.

The latest death of my last standing Chromi, was just discovered 5 minutes ago.

I really don't know what the hell is going on with all these fish deaths.
I can't seem to keep 'em alive.
All coral is doing absolutely great... but fish just aren't staying alive for me.
The minimum I can get is a little over a week. And the maximum 1 month...

Only test kits I have for Nitrates are API.. which I don't trust.
When I put my hand in the water... I don't feel any shock.. but I guess that doesn't mean that there can't be any stray voltage?

How can I test to see if there is? Anything else I'm missing here?

Temperature has been stable 79 - 80 degrees...

So damn ****ed...

Only sign of "illness" I ever spotted was on the first green chromi that died.
He developed one cloudy eye. The day after I noticed it he was dead.

But other than that.. fish have just been dropping dead.

No rapid respiration...no erratic behavior indicating ich... I just don't freakin get it.

Alright.. done venting.

Any advice is welcomed...

Thanks.

@ Staaan..... Best is to qt for a few weeks... in your case over the 30 day period that you mentioned using a combo treatment of hyposalinty for any new arrivals to relieve any parasistic infections that have not developed yet and then a formalin(-lyn) treatment with plenty of airation. You can also try using furan2 for bacteria infections or a copper treatment also. Really up to you to decide which plan of action to use. Research sudden death in fish or wasting away. GL... my $00.01

Possibility of a fluke worm infestation. All lfs, that I've been to lately, tell me their fish are coming in full of them.
I'm with Noel. QT everything, and leave your tank fish-less for a month. Good luck buddy.

I keep a small filter sponge in my sump and use it in my QT filter and use tank water.

Yeah... when you do your routine water change on the display tank.. use the display's tank water to do a w/c for the q/t.. (just transferring water over that's it).

Lost a Yellow Tang today :(
He was fat, so wonder if my other tang was bothering him or
hmmmm could it have been the temperature drop in the tank to 74 degrees?
