I set up a nano tank just for zoes. Because of my love for big angels I can't keep zoes in my big tank.. Went to a frag swap, bought $200 dollars worth of the must amazing zoes. Decided last night my nano needs more flow. So I added one of my Rio 1200's. This was the newest one I have. You can tell by the picture there's no Coraline algae covering it. Came home tonight after work. Noticed the tank was cloudy. All the zoes are closed up. Then noticed a lot of dead brittle worms and star fish laying in the bottom. I looked at my temp gage, 78 thats good. I'm just looking over the tank trying to figure out what is going on and I hear a very faint buzz noise. My daughter looks at me and says what are you doing? I told her I hear a buzz noise. She says, dad thats coming from that thing over there that has bubbles coming out the top. Well it wasn't bubbles it was smoke.

I ran a full phos band reactor full of carbon. Zoes still look bad. After putting my hand in the tank and moving things around, I can smell a burnt smell on my arm. So I drained the hole tank. Filled it back up with water from my big tank. It's been a week and all the zoe's are still closed up. I also figured that the electricity probable killed all of the bacteria in the tank as well. So I have been adding Sea Chem Stability. Yesterday I found a frag of some bam-bam zoes I didn't know were still in my big tang so I put them in and they will also not open up.

What do I do????

small water changes and making sure the test stats stay stable in optimal ranges...
good carbon that gets changed out after a few days i suppose.
that is about it i am afraid.. well at least that i know of.

Was there some damage/fraying on the maxijet cord for it to break right there? Perhaps it was not sealed correctly in the factory.

Lots of fresh carbon, a PolyFilter, and good-sized (15-20%) water changes... I'm sorry about the damage! I'm glad there wasn't more damage, or a house fire, though. :(
