I picked up a 180 gallon tank for cheap it is made by sea clear it is 72x24x24 its 3/8 thick all sides and bottom but only back is 1/2 the top is one whole piece with two cut out it works out to be about 6 inches all the way around my questions are is the tank ok to use he had it setup already but iam worried also is the company any good and finally how much should it bow when filled and is it normally to have some defecltion when empty. Thanks ryan

Hey Ryan iam serge nice to meet u, so I just picked up a sea clear 180 as well and Buffet the li ing thing out of it to make it perfect, the tank isn't to bad as far as I know but it's def not the best. Once u fill it up with water the tNk won't bow much. Almost non as I know from looking at mine. U might want to glue some acrylic pieces on the back of the tank to hold the back and the top piece together those may after a long time snap on u. I supported mine with acrylic scraps. I'll post some pics. What do u mean by defects ?

i recently buffed out a used 180 of similar dimensions to the one you are talking about. after getting it all cleaned up i did a freshwater test fill. the bottom seam blew out and emptied the tank in about 10 minutes. it made me wonder why i always hear people saying that integrity is an advantage to acrylic over glass.

hmmm I can't say anything about the company other than that they've been around a li'l while.
As for the tank, IMO it's underbuilt for the size. The biggest complaint folks have about acrylic is the scratching, and underbuilt tanks are far more prone to scratching IME.
It is bowed when empty because acrylic will stretch and stay that way, simply put :)
