Im not really new to the hobby but could use the help nonetheless.

I am having what seems to be between a bad diatom bloom with a cross of cyanobacteria.

I say this because the algae is creating a mat of algae when the lights are on and it can get pretty dense but it also has the signature nitrogen bubbles from a cyano bloom.

Is there a such thing as brown/golden cyanobacteria?

My nitrates are reading at .5ppm, phosphate????, pH at 8.0 to 8.2, alk at 300, and temp is between 79* to 81*.

Thanks,

tchndie

Yeah........ I heard that is a temporary fix and it eventually comes back. You are not fixing the original problem, you are just masking it.
