Hello, my octopus skimmer is on the way and I've got a few questions. I bought the extreme 200, rated for 200 gallons, for my 180 gallon tank. I've read lots of good things about octopus skimmers. My question is where the gate valve is at will water be pouring out into my sump making lots of splashing noise. If so how can I fix it and where can I order parts to make it quite. I've read the sumps uses metric plumbing parts.

I use a 1 1/2" street elbow to direct the water downward. It fits only loosely into the outlet, but it does a fine job of quieting the splashing. I have it resting against the side of my sump to keep it in, but an elastic band would work too.

If you do manage to find metric plumbing parts that fit tight, remember to drill a hole in the elbow because otherwise your skimmer will overflow upon startup.

Teflon tape rapped around it would help keep it in

If you dont want to DIY, I think its Coralvue actually makes a "vent" add on.

Edit: Link> Vent (http://coralvue.com/protein-skimmer-output-vent/)
