A way to get more skimmer in your space?or only if you have to?
do they skim as well? hard to clean? Since the pump is inside does that make it quieter? thank you :)

What size tank do you have?

depends on the design and the type and size of the system.

Most quiet I've had is the BM NAC6 and the SWC 120 or 160 (almost silent). I've heard the XP sss skimmers are loud but I've never used one, so take that with a grain of salt. The SWC 160 works great as well as the NAC6. The NAC6 skims much better without the bubble plate though. W/O the plate, the mixing in the chamber is better IME.

Can't speak for the octos but the SWC and BM are easy to clean and can be broken down completely. I believe the octos are as well.

Avast Marine also makes the CS1 cone skimmer if you are into DIY projects.

i got the SRO XP1000, only came in space saver form. This skimmer works very well and zero noise. The only draw back I feel is less contact time with the water, but when I clean the collection cup it smells aweful so it must be doing something right
