I've been changing my RO filters every 6 months. However, does this interval change depending on how much RO/DI water you produce? Let's say I make 20g of RO/DI each week compared to 100g each week, would I then change the filters more frequently since I'm producing more filtered water?

Just curious as to how you gauge when the filters need to be replaced (other than TDS register > 1).

Thanks!

When you change your filters is dependent on how much water you make as well as how much TDS is in your input water. If your tap water is fairly clean, then your filters can last a while. If it is filled with TDS then you will have to replace more frequently.

Here's a good thread as well. I always refer back to it. I personally change out my sediment filter every 3 months and my carbon block every 6 months. For the price of sediment filters, it's worth protecting the membrane.

solitude127,

thanks for the reference. so you change out your membranes even if the TDS is 0?

Nevermind, just read the post and answered my own question.

I've been using the same membrane for about 3 yrs now and my output after the membrane is still 2. Tap water is in the high 300s.
