So i have a new reef ready tank and never had a sump before. I was wondering which chamber to put macro algea. The water comes in over some live rubble then into the second chamber with skimmer sitting on top of mineral mud then flows over a sponge then into a chamber with pump and heater also can i use my old tank light for fuge it is a lumenarc mino 250w with coralvue skimmer. I will post a link for pics. Thanks for any help

The only chamber that it looks like you can use for a fuge is the second chamber where the skimmer is. The skimmer will have to be relocated to the chamber where return pump. This isn't the optimal set-up for a skimmer but the only way that I can see you running a fuge.

If you do set it up this way you will need to make sure that the water level where the skimmer is placed doesn't fluctuate too much as it will affect its performance.

You could also place your return pump in the centre chamber and split your water dump pipe to dump in the first and last chamber so the water flows over to the return with a few simple mods this could work. that way have a dsb with fuge. but you would need a auto top up to keep your water level stable in the small return pump area

raise your skimmer or the return pipe so the out water is above the water line in sump but below collection cup

Looks like alot of plubing work. And can i raise skimmer with eggcrate stand. And just a little bit above water level???

It may look like a lot but really all you are doing is cutting 1 pipe adding a t and an extension with a ball valve to restrict the flow but you would need to either add a new baffle and remove the one where your return pump is! or reverse it all together and put dsb where skimmer is currently, which imo would be better as you could keep auto top up easier as the return will be pulling water from underneath, rather than causing so many bubbles from water falling
