what speed are you running your fans on? I have a 48 inch 8 bulb fixture non- diamable unit and I run mine at 7.5. just wondering if I should crank it up some more?:wavehand:

What would you say is the ambient temp around your fixture? That really depends on what speed you run your fans.

I have found that if the ambient temp is around 68-74F then running the fans at 7.5v was best.

If the ambient temp was 74-80F then I ran mine at 9v.

If it was higher than 80F, 12v.

If the temp is lower than 68 than 6v should do the job.

I have the same fixture and I have mine set to 7.5v. The exit air temp is about 105 - 110. I also have a 6x24w SP with I have set to 4.5v. This fixture is in the garage where the ambient temp is in the low 60s. I've found out that you can overcool you fixture as well.

A bit off topic...

I just recently got a 60" 10 bulb powermodule. I read that the fixture is designed to blow air into the unit. If I hold my hand above the fans I can feel air coming up from them. Is this just the excess volume of air the fixture can't accommodate or are they running reverse of what they should be?

Best way to tell is to hold a flame to it and see which way it goes. Mine feel the same, but when I put a flame to it, it blowing the air into the fixture

My ambient air is 69-71 year round and I was running my 8 bulb PM @ 9v.

Good to know. I'll run it @7.5v. Much quieter.

I run mine at 7.5 during summer, 6 during the cooler months. I'm not sure if it makes a difference that I'm on 50Hz power as opposed to the 60Hz in the US, but the PAR has been tested to be the best under these conditions where I live.

I haven't really checked mine. It has only been up a week. I thought the fans trigger based on a core temperature on the heatsinks or somewhere else on the unit. If that is not the case, I need to look at my fixture to see what is going on.

Just checked my Powermodule. My plug is finicky for the fans. I had to wedge it in there.
