I'd get rid of the CC. But I'd replace it with aragonite. I'd create a remote sandbed in a fuge, then pull the top sandbed, rely on the RSB to seed the new one. YOu'll get hair algae because of new sand, but it'll diminish with time. The only reason I personally would ever go bb is due to having a huge tank with some mid-reef swimmers like tangs and huge angels. Tangs and sandbeds, imho, are kind of an invitation to ich. But if you take appropriate precautions, even that's not much of a worry.
