Myst666 sorry to say clicking on your name doesn't have the link to view your tank.

That link works great. You did a great job on your tank, I love that flower anemone, it's gorgious.

Thanks, I am still moving stuff around. I think the flower anemone is my favorite.

Is that a little Condylactis Blue Anemone hiding in the rock behind the yellow sponge?

Myst666
03/20/2011, 01:05 PM
Yea, it starts to come out and then goes right back in. LOL silly thing

Jaxom
03/20/2011, 01:21 PM
LOL well if you haven't done so already, take a look at Richard's Organism ID page it says that the Condylactis Blue Anemone don't like alot of light, so hopefully there is alot of room where it is and it stays there instead of taking a trek around your tank to visit it's new neighbors. :spin1:

03/20/2011, 07:25 PM
You will find that the condy will adapt to most lighting, but it will brown up quite a bit in full light. It will find its happy place pretty quickly. Nice tank.

Myst666
03/22/2011, 10:04 AM
Well, the Condy moved, it is now in front of the rock. Well at least I can see it, :o). The Flower keeps closing up. I think I need to switch some bulbs around, it is starting change colors.

Jaxom
03/22/2011, 06:53 PM
Have you posted a picture of where it is sitting now?

I had a condy that took to wandering. Those animals' sting packs a wallop, mine wiped out a xenia in its travels.

Might want to keep an eye on yours, make sure it doesn't assault your purple sea fan or your sponge.

Myst666
03/26/2011, 09:06 PM
The Condy is moving. LOL wish it would just stay put. Glad that I can move things around.

Can anyone tell me what kind of crab this is bad or good?

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m209/mist_5/Saltwater%2024%20Gal%20POD/IMG_2721.jpg

And then there is this one also

First crab looks like a little decorator. No problem there. The second looks like a mithrax sp. You can tell if it has little cup-like tips on its claws. If that is the case, they are about 90% safe. I have had 15 or 20 over the years and only 2 went rogue on zoas and had to be sumped. Otherwise they will be pretty model citizens just eat algae and bits of food. Btw, that orange 'gorg' is actually an orange tree sponge. They just have very prominent pores that could look like polyps.

Myst666
03/28/2011, 05:34 AM
Thanks Noahm, I wasn't sure. There is a lot of neat stuff and critters in the package.
I thought that was a tree, but someone called it a Gorg so I was just going with that. Newbie here, just going with what ever someone tells me. LOL

The Condy Anemone is fully extended, is that normal? It is in-between two rocks and the foot is extended like 4". That was this morning, I will check on it again after work.

Yogre
03/28/2011, 10:48 AM
Not sure what they're doing when they "stretch" like that, but I think it's normal.

I haven't had my condy for a while, but I still have the three rock flower anemones that came with my package (over two years now) and I frequently see them stretching out their feet.

Myst666
03/28/2011, 01:00 PM
Thanks Yogre, Yea it is very strange. I didn't know what the heck it was doing. My son got home and said that it moved again. I will have to move some rock around so it can plant its foot in a cleared hole.

Yes, that one.

Myst666
04/02/2011, 06:01 AM
At one point I counted 5 little ones. Now I can only find 3. I am going to set up a 10 gal so they can grow up (bigger), then trade them for something.

Jaxom
04/02/2011, 10:13 AM
They are probably hiding in your rock. Good idea on the trade idea, you going to trade with an individual or take them to a LFS?

Myst666
04/02/2011, 10:21 AM
I am not sure yet. Just don't want them to get ate.

Jaxom
04/02/2011, 12:11 PM
LOL, I think they will be a hard meal to find if they stay in the rocks.

noahm
04/02/2011, 10:38 PM
There are probably dozens/hundreds in the rock. Look for a few legs sticking out of even tiny holes. If you keep the tank happy, you will always have many. They don't get too big though. I think the biggest I have seen was about 2.5" tip to tip, maybe a bit larger, but the legs are always very thin and they can really get into the crevices. Don't worry about them getting eaten.

Jaxom
04/08/2011, 12:07 AM
Myst, how is the tank coming along.

Myst666
04/08/2011, 05:10 PM
Tank is Awesome:o) I have one or two monsterous Gorilla Crabs, could be the same one I saw twice. Anyway I moved some rock around, set up a 10Gal, holding tank, moved some rock in there and some sponges.
The Rock Anemone, I was not doing good with, so it has a better home now. A friend who is helping me could not believe all the stuff I received, he has the flower anemone and it is doing great. It would like to stay closed most of the time.
So I now have a Torch Coral and Metallic Star Polyp Frags. Still nothing is glued to the rocks yet. The Condy (I love this thing) moved since I changed the rock around.
All of my tests are very low, just not 0 yet.
Oh and I am now using RODI water instead of filtered water. My phosphates were out of control. I am seeing a big difference with the RODI water.
I have just been busy playing with the tank and/or tanks now.

Jaxom
04/09/2011, 10:53 AM
Wow sounds like you've been busy.

Myst666
04/10/2011, 06:09 AM
Now I am mad, I found half of my Mithrix crab. All I can see is one claw and a few legs. It is moving but I can't get to it unless I tear all the rock apart. Gorilla Crabs traps are not working.

Remember....this is the ocean...everything eats everything else.....is the way it works out there...and in our tanks.....

I had a lobster molt last night, and woke up to a little of the head and antennas left....the critters ate it for the calcium content!

I still have to catch the monster of Gorilla Crab. I think I will start feeding him, then maybe I can catch him.

Well Myst long time no post, how's the tank coming along.

Myst666
07/13/2011, 08:28 AM
Tank is doing great!! I got the fever and a 90 gallon bow front is being delivered tomorrow. What the heck am I doing. I have 3 tanks going now, one is a hospital tank, the 10 gallon and the Aqua pod. So i figure I will combine the 10 gallon and Aqua pod to the 90.
I have two pairs of clown fish, the Ocellaris Black and White and the other pair is a female Fancy and the male is a young Onyx.
The condy anemone, I lost it. It found the filter intake, very sad on that. It was doing so good too. I didn't think that it would get in there since the slits were sooooo small.
I purchased some other fish and what not, that is needed.
Frogspawn, Hammer coral, Trumpet coral, Flower Pots, Feather Duster, 3 kinds of Mushrooms and Coca Worms.
Sea Hare, Stary Blenny, Diamond Goby, Blue and Green Damsel's and Neon Goby's.
Other then that the tank's are getting filled up and doing great. Ready for a new one.
