We are in the process of building a small external overflow box that will support beananimal standpipes. The dimmensions of the box are 14.5''L by 5.5''W by 5.5"H. I have dap household adhesive sealant(aquarium safe according to package) that I used for my sump but am a little nervous about using this for my external box. The box if completely full would hold 1.9 gallons of water. My box would only at most be about 3/4 of the way full. Will the dap hold this box or should I go for rtv108? Thank you for your time and help.

What material is the tank and the overflow?
What material is the sump?

This is very important in the selection of adhesive.

If it helps any the tank is a 46 gallon bowfront and the sump is a 20 gallon long

You will need the RTV.

RTV 103 (black) or RTV 108 (clear). Can't go wrong with these and you can get them at your local Grainger.

I went jsut a little bit ago and they said that they would have to order it. How long does this usually take?

So I called back and got the rtv 103 black to match the black silicone on the 46. It is at grainger waiting for me to pick it up first thing in the morning. Thank you all so much for your help.

Just make sure that you don't rush the cure time. I'm pretty sure that the Grainger site says full cure in 24 hours but I'd give it at least several days. I waited two weeks when I did my 180. I'm not saying that you have to wait that long but as with most things in this hobby rushing your RTV cure will lead to heartbreak.

Thanks for the tip. Water will be going in no sooner than a week. Most likely longer. :fish2:
