I've got my RO line running into a "t" to fill 2 Brute cans. Each can as it's own float switch which I just installed and they seem to work.

Do you guys leave the water on so that way your cans start filling up as soon as you empty them or do you only use the float switch as a safety device and shut the water off when you are done filling.

Anyone? Do you leave your RO unit on and simply rely on a float switch to turn your water off?

You would still need an auto shut off valve or your waste water would continue to run. You didn't mention this in your original post.

Yes, I have an auto shut off at my unit. My RO unit and my collection cans are at opposite ends of the house. Before I installed the float valves I just set an alarm on my phone to remind me to shut the water off before going out or going to bed.

I guess everyone just uses them as a piece of mind in case you forget.
