what light do you use for cheato?

I was just wondering what kinds of lights you guys use for cheato. Would a clip on from home depot work?

That's what we use. With a 65K spiral bulb.

I use all kinds- whatever is handy at the tank site. On my home display I use a 70watt halide with a 5k bulb- algae goes nuts for it!

the CFL bulbs? that really works for cheato? I thought i'd have to get a regular filament bulb

I have cheato growing well in my 10 gallon QT tank with a stock 10 gallon freshwater bulb that is many years old. Cheato doesn't need much light.

Algae loves 65K. That was the bulb several pros told us to use.

Chaeto will grow well under NO fluorescent. Having said that, I have a 42W Phillips Daylight CFL bulb over my refugium with a reflector and the Chaeto grows very quickly. I've also had good results using this bulb for Red Mangroves and Thalia.

cheap 23 watt screw in CFL from home depot works great!! I grow cheato, red graciella, and mangroves under it

i use a $5 clamp-light with a 65k cfl. perfect bulb for macro

As stated the 23w (100w) cfl and clip on socket from home depot is cheap and works great. Just make sure you get the 6.5k bulb.

This uses an internal reflector. Just need the clip/socket.

65k Lowe's bulb for 7 bucks. The stuff grows like wildfire. I know some people like to use T5's, but I say go cheap :)
