I have heard alot of people using "Brute" trash cans for water. Is any trash can safe to use or only "Brute". Also having read on another thread about them having to have a food grade stamp I was wondering if my rubbermaid stock tank is safe to use. Anyone use one of these?

How about the trash cans. Only "Brute" or others are fine?

The reason I mix my water in a rubbermaid brute trash can is because they are very sturdy :)

Hello All,

I would also like to get this straightened out in my head as well.

There is two uses for this ... mixed salt water or for RO/DI storage. I know Brute cans are food safe so I would think that for mixed salt water use for example RDSB, it would be okay.

I think the camp that is against using them are thinking for RO/DI storage.

Since the RO water is so aggressive and can force leach out elements from the Brute can.

Anyone really know ?

Cheers,
Bruce

The Brute cans work well. Other types of plastic might be an issue, so I'd be careful. Food grade containers generally are fine.

How is RO water "aggressive?"
