no rubber pad on my dry side

i bought this mp20 used and it did not come with the round drubber oad that attaches over the pin spacer sticker. is there an issue with running it without this piece? i have a glass aquarium so i think it will stick but is this piece crucial to the pumps operation or adhesion?
