i just got a used 'Reef Octopus DNWB 110 Recirculating Protein Skimmer'
can someone pls tell me how long it takes to start skimming, and if this skimmer is any good..

it depends on how much garbage is in your water my skimmer didnt produce a trace of skimmate for 5 days when i 1st got it.

and then on how good it is depends on how big your tank is, how big your bio load is, and what corals your keeping.

i have a 55gal with a 30gal sump, its bin running now for 1 month and i just have 3 chromis. whats the max amount of fish i can put in a tank like that, and what the max size can i add.

Reef Octopus makes very good skimmers IME. I have the xs 160 and it does a great job.

I don't know what your max bio load would be on a 55g. I know that you can't put any tangs in that size of tank though. Also research any fish you like before purchasing to make sure it is compatiblt with the other tank mates.
