Peruse the nano forum for a while and you'll see lots of all in one tanks, be it manufactured or diy. Which got me wondering.
I don't think I've ever seen a larger AIO tank.
Is there some inherent problem with large AIO designs?

What do you consider large? Red Sea Max has the RSM250 that's 65 gallons...
A problem of AIO is that some of the stock equipment could be better. So a lot of people prefer to build their own so they can choose skimmer, pumps, etc.

I was thinking 90+ gallons. For example, a 4' x 2' tank with a 3' x 2' display, peninsula style with cabinetry incorporated into the stand and canopy to hide the business end. 2' x 1' seems plenty for a skimmer, heater, fuge etc. Eliminates plumbing, cuts down energy costs and just seems like a kinda cool idea. To me anyway.

The only issue I have thought about is getting the water level correct in your sump. Otherwise I am in the planning stages of a tank which you described but the dimensions were as follows:
8' x 4' the back 2' x 4' section will be glassed off and house all of the skimmer and sump equipment.

Hi all,
I have had a Oceanic 60 show tank( 36"L.x18.5"W.x21"Tall ) with black oak show stand for a while now and been thinking of setting up an AIO reef tank. my idea is a false wall 34"L x 20"H overflow into filter sponge and 3-6 baffles for a refugium area and skimmer area and one chamber for return pump..All made of black ABS sheet 1/4" thick.
I have done much research and found that the ABS sheet is cheaper than Acrylic and is black. the same material the AIO Solana false wall are made of..
Just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on this build..
and maybe this will help other with similar idea
