Green gunk in protein skimmer? is that an indication of?

My protein skimmer has green gunk is that an indication of algae or is it skimming the phytoplankton I feed my corals? or is that normal? Should I turn off the skimmer at nights when I feed my corals? I have a UV sterilizer as well. Thanks in advance for the comments!

Most likely the phytoplankton. I turn mine off for a couple hours while I feed to prevent this from happening but will skim off any remaining in the water after the skimmer is turned back on.

Ohhh ok thanks for the comment. That makes sense, I just bought a Reef keeper Lite so I will time my skimmer to be turned off for few hours while I feed them. Thanks!
