Can this be done?? How hard is it to take apart a 36" hood with 4 bulbs? Couldn't I just use some type of metal polish like with cars?

my current nep 6 bulb was easy to take apart, just screwed together and alittle twisting to align the screw holes when putting back together. however I was looking on ebay and most oddysea lights have powdercoated aluminum reflectors. clear powder I believe to prevent corrosion. So it'd be some work to get the powder coat off, it bonds to the metal much stronger than paint and probably not worth the effort, polish alone won't remove it. some grades of aluminum get shinier than others so maybe you've seen better but they don't all shine up like that. You could allways try a corner though. Eagle nano polish works really good on metal. I do dust mine every so often.

You would probably be better off painting it hi gloss white.
