I think it's fine as long as you don't mind the length of it. Do you have a fill shot of your setup, I am in the process of setting up a 40 with a Bean and want to see what you've done.

Yeah I have a full shot of it unfinished, but you'll get the idea. Also, if you go to google images, you'll find a lot of beananimal overflow pics and return plumbing that people have done with it too.
