I have:

3x retrofit 250wHQI reflectors w/bulbs
3x Lumatek switchable 250w ballasts.

I have the standard power cabling, however... At least one of the cables from one ballast to the reflector/socket is too short. It was a used ballast, and the cable was cut short by the previous owner.

Is this ok to do?

-Standard PC power cord (goes from wall socket into the PC power supply)
-Cut and splice to extend the ballast to halide socket.
-Yes, I will include the ground wire, and bolt to the reflector.

I planned to use wire connectors to crimp the wires together and wrap well with black electrical tape at the splice.

If the PC power cord wiring isn't sufficient. Is there something you'd suggest that I can find at the local hardware big box store?

Much thanks!

It should be fine. I have used plain old cheap orange extension cords from home depot many times.
