Happy People Eaters

Has anyone seen the new HPE (Happy People Eaters) from Happycoral.com I ordered mine last night 3 polyps should be here next week. I like the fact that they arn't 300-400/polyp like the hornet craze. Only $10/polyp, just thought I would share my excitment.
They look like a cross between red magicians and RPE

No I havent ordered from them before. In fact some guys from my local forum got a group buy together I think like 7 of us ordered them and some other corals and we hit free shipping so thats a plus. I will post some pics up when I get them.

Looks like a morph of Blue Agave, which I also believe is a morph of RPE. Do Magicians have the green mouth and watermelon polyp striping of PEs? Everyone keeps referencing these as a Magician morph, and I've always understood that Magicians are not a PE (couldn't say for sure, as I've never owned any of them).

Magicians are not people eaters, no green mouth. They look very similiar to the blue agave PE that are floating around now. Either way, they are very very nice and I thought about ordering them myself.

I consider these a mix of both Magician/RPE/BAs. they do have the watermelon markings when closed up. they're pretty large people Eaters

The only reason I mention the Magicians is b/c magicians have the sparkle/painting like stuff and they also are red. Not sure if they are a paly though always thought they were a zoeanthid.

Yep you are right, if they are a PE (Zoanthus gigantus), they are a zoanthid, not a paly.

Other places are selling these now too, though not for comparable prices.

Not sure how you got free shipping... Happy Coral doesn't offer free shipping at any threshold.

Chase-One of our guys from the forum called them about a group order and with all that we were getting they gave us free shipping, plus they let us oder and pay individually and when checking out just put a certain code that would let them know where to ship so they are all going to a certain persons house for pickup but paid for individually.

I got mine a little over a week ago. Nice polyps- and even nicer price. I was very happy to see a polyp that could have been pimped/hyped- and labeled with intent to drive prices, go for $10/polyp, and even with demand, stay at $10/polyp.

There are a few spots I have seen that got these polyps and have been chopping, renaming, and jacking up prices to make a quick dollar......kinda sad. Hope it doesnt continue or get worse....I have already seen them for double the purchase price.

I really like how each polyp is a bit different. There is a good variety of differences from polyp to polyp. Some have lots of blue, more speckling, all red skirt, or prodominatly blue skirt, and mixes all in between.

Yea I picked these up last week. Got 3 of them, I never was into the super high price TINY polyps and these were priced nice. I was pleasantly surprised when I got them. Just have to grow them out of my frag tank so that they look like something in the main tank lol

Got a nice 4polyp frag for cheap a lil over a week ago...apparently the lfs in so cal have been getting in colonies by the box load so alot of the colonoes 40-60polyps are being sold dirt cheap... Nice paly, but its more common than we think

LOL They are the same exact polyps... Just goes to show you what a nice macro lens, some touch up work in photoshop, and tons of supplimental lighting does on polyps...

i did and it doesnt say where you got them or that they came from happy corals. funny part is this is a $30 rock from wholesaler with 40-70 polyps.

$10/polyp seems a bit much now that these HPE has flooded the socal region... same goes for the hornets... some guy at MAX(marine expo in orange county) was selling blue hornets from $10/polyp.. good to hear that some of those ridiculous prices are being tamed..

While they do look very similar to magicians, there are differences. One being the green mouth. The small colony I got has a little different color than my magicians.

Amazing how many clubs have done group buys on these polyps, and the total number of polyps sold after the hype hit, just through this one vendor is astronomical.

So much for Limited Edition and Rare, eh?

Sir Patrick, this kind of reminds me of when we got a "Super High End LE $100 a polyp"zoa at he LFS I work at, from the polyps originator, posted a pic under normal non-blue tank lighting, and was flat out told by several people that it wasn't the polyp at all.

Turns out, no one had ever even seen one under normal non-actinic lighting and non-macro shot photo.
