Certainly didn't waste any room in that tank! Looks like you downsized from a 60, and moved EVERYTHING over! I LOVE that rico garden you have going there, so many great color combos and such a great array of colors.

as i said earlier...

oh my god.

all you need to do to sign up for ntotm is go to the sticky at the top of the nano tank forums. it says ntotm entries or something like that

(i do suggest that before you sign up for ntotm, put the tangs in a different tank. some people will scrutinize you pretty bad for that)

Nice tank! Interesting fish selection though, 2 different species of clowns and a tang. How long have all the fish been together? My Maroon pair would have destroyed everything in a tank that size. How often do you do water changes in a tank that stocked?

yea, he has a hippo tang and a yellow tang in there with a maroon clown. i would have thought both tangs fins would have been shredded, but they arent. very strange that he hasnt come across territory issues...

still looks amazing

^i hear scallops are pretty difficult to keep, but why not in a nano? do they add quite a bit to bio load?

i guess it would be because of stability issues, but stability can be controlled if your diligent enough.

Nothing wrong with the Scallops, or the Maroons if they were the only fish in the tank. I would personally do away with both tangs and the other clownfish and leave everything else if it was my tank.

I am still interested as to how often you do a water change. With that amount of bioload you must do nearly 100% weekly to keep the nitrates down or have a HUGE sump that we don't know about.

Edit: I see you change about 5L a day which if you truly do it every day comes out to 37% water change weekly. Do you siphon right after feeding to get rid of unused food?

Everyone told me thet maroons are aggressive but I noticed that the rank of a fish in a tank is formed by the sequence you put the fish in. I put the marrons at last so they are quite tame.

I siphon right after feeding to prevent unused food from decomposing.

The tangs are bought two months after the tank was set so the have been living in captivity for more than a year.

Wait until they start spawning. Everything in that tank (including coral which is close to their spawn site) will be in jeopardy! I know you love your tank but if you really like the way it looks I would consider puling all the fish and restocking it properly for long term success.

In my opinion good tank husbandry is no excuse for torturing fish. The corals looks fantastic, but this is just wrong.

I am now working hard to catch and relocate them in a FOWLR tank.

The flows are powered only by two KOTOBUKI SV9000 motors, the water's shooted out of two tubes(one on the side and one on the back). No other motors are used to improve water flow.

A blue velvet nudibranch looks awesome and should clear up the flatworm problem. The Catch22 is figuring how to keep it alive once the flat worms are gone.

I collected them from the great barrier reef,ha ha ha,just kidding. The corals are from my lfs or sometimes, a local wholesaler. I use two 10,000K and another two 14,000K t5.

Corals look great! Obviously You have managed to find just the right balance in that tank. More corals & fish than one might think is safe or even possible to maintain. I think the key may be, it takes a lot of fish to help feed a lot of corals. That and you must be very diligent indeed to keep that much life so heathy in that size tank.

I don't think you ever said how much water change you do per week? Or I missed it.

If you don't mind, where are you located? You have a really good LFS to have found that many nice corals.

Congratulations!!! Beautiful tank. I hope you can continue to maintain that delicate balance.

Thanks, the amount of water change is mentioned in the May NTOTM thread:

I live in Taiwan so we can obtain Indonesian corals with decent prices but as you can see the australian and caribbean corals I own are bought from a local importer. By establishing good relationships with your local whole saler you can get your hand on FRESH,just imported corals with lower price than buying them from a lfs.
