Our Local Fish Store suggested we try a hairy mushroom with our clowns, I'm sure someone has addressed this already lol, but is there any way to try to encourage them to try the hairy mushroom out and host it? Our tank is still new-ish (within the first year still) and we were to nervous to try an anemone yet lol, any advice? :-)

the clowns will whittle your mushrooms away. just had my new tomato crushed my 3 hairy mushrooms to nothing. what type of clowns do you have?

My two clowns have been hosted by some hairy mushrooms for about two years now. They are on a pretty regular egg laying schedule too. The rock is about the size of a football and is covered with hairy mushrooms. Whether yours will accept 'shrooms as a host, that is pretty much a coin toss.

Good Luck!

My Onxy pair have been using my field of hairy mushrooms and frogspawn for years now. Doesnt bother either corals one bit. Although its really hit or miss if they will use them of not.
